Q: What’s different about Run for Canada from other 10 km runs?
1A: It’s a run that offers the best of both worlds to those celebrating being Canadian. It’s an event that allows participants to enjoy a run or walk with friends and family on this day of celebration and an opportunity to support their local community. It is an event that is being coordinated with the National Capital Commission (NCC) overall Canada Day celebrations.

2A: Hbc has been an integral part of Canada’s heritage for over three centuries, and through our family of stores, the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters, we continue to take a vital and active role in supporting communities across Canada in which we live and work.The Hbc Run for Canada is one more way we continue this tradition.

Q: Do I have to be a great runner to participate?
3A: Absolutely not. Whether you’re a serious runner, just starting to enjoy running or want to stroll with your family and friends, this fun-for-all 10 km Run and 3 km Family Walk is a great kick off to the Canada Day celebrations in your nation’s capital.

Q: How do I make a donation to support my local community?
4A: Donations can be made online at hbcrunforcanada.ca. To make a donation please visit the online donation form.

Q: How do we register?
5A: It’s easy for you and your family to register online at hbcrunforcanada.ca. The registration fee for the 10 km run is $48 and $24 for the 3 km walk. Please note that you will be charged 7% GST on your registration as well as a $3 processing fee for each registrant. This registration fee will help us to cover our costs and ultimately to increase the amount of funds that we are able to donate to our charitable partners. Q: Are there any mementos?
6A: Yes. All registered participants will receive a free performance wear T-shirt and runners will receive a commemorative 10K Finisher Medal. You’ll also enjoy on-course and post-run entertainment, pancake breakfast and more!

Q: Will I have a chance to do any run training?
7A: Yes. Training runs will be available for you to join on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays commencing May 18th. Click here for more details.

Q: Where will the funds raised go?
8A: Funds raised will be shared with both the CHEO Foundation, which is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and youth, and the Hbc Foundation, which is focused on supporting health, wellness and education of Canadians. Q: Will I be able to record my run time?
9A: Yes, all 10km participants will be timed using the ChampionChip technology, full results will be posted on the internet following the event. Please note that chips will be collected at the run finish, and a fee of $40 will be charged for any un-returned chip.

Q: Can I sponsor friends and family in the run?
10A: Definitely, you can show your Canadian spirit by supporting friends and family who are participating in the Hbc Run for Canada. Just have the participant you wish to sponsor e-mail you the link to the hbcrunforcanada.ca website.

Q: I’d like to volunteer. What can I do?
11A: The Hbc Run for Canada needs the help of volunteers to help in many ways. From early morning onsite set-up for the run course, to supporting run operations throughout the day, helping with entertainment throughout the event, to handing out finisher medals, or providing power drinks.
