Welcome to Saskatoon!Come run or walk in Saskatoon - centrally located in the province of Saskatchewan, on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River! The name Saskatoon comes from the Cree Indian name for a local indigenous berry, the 'mis-sask-quah-toomina'. This is one of the sunniest cities in Canada, with an average of 2,381 hours of sunshine each year!
The staging area for Saskatoon's 2008 Hbc Run for Canada is Diefenbaker Park, site of the Start/Finish line, the food tents, event entertainment, and a fabulous Canada Day fireworks display later in the evening. One of the first sights you'll see along the Saskatoon 10K Run route is Pioneer Cemetery, where some of the city's earliest residents were buried. Naturally, the race route will take you through many more of Saskatoon's historic and scenic highlights, such as River Landing, an exciting waterfront area that will soon feature an outdoor amphitheatre. As a participant in the Hbc Run for Canada, you'll also run or walk by the many pedestrian and bike paths along the pristine shoreline. There will be plenty of other exciting Canada Day festivities in the Park, so with the Hbc Run for Canada, you've got your Canada Day plans all set!
